Social Justice Committee Meets at 7:00 pm, the third Monday monthly, to implement the Catholic Social Teachings in the Resurrection faith community. Efforts protects the poor and vulnerable against violence, economic injustice, euthanasia, abortion, war, the death penalty and supports efforts to care for the environment. Subcommittess include: Stephen Ministry: Confidential one-to-one pastoral care to those experiencing life stress, crisis, or change. Ministers receive ongoing training and supervision by Stephen Leaders so more can be reached with Jesus' healing power and love. To give or receive care, check the bulletin for contact information. Tithing Committee: 4% of regular Sunday collections goes for various charities. Meets quarterly to determine recipients. Organizations to receive tithing are from proposals of groups or parishioner. Charities within the greater Monroe County are a priority. Meetings are open; new members are welcome. Sunday Dinner Ministry: Third Sunday of every month volunteers provide a hot, nutritious, home-cooked meal to anyone in Fairport who need it (served at the Fairport United Methodist Church). Help greet, coordinate, cook, shop, serve, set up/clean up, provide rides, or deliver meals to the homebound. Caring and Sharing: "to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless": mortgage/rent/utility payments; food/gift cards. Parish Reach-out: Occasionally deliver meals (prepared for takeout) to parishioners when a family member is ill or recovering from surgery and needs temporary assistance. We also provide rides to doctor appointments or do a prescription pickup at a pharmacy. No meetings are required. The coordinator will contact you to let you know the needs of the family. To become involved or, if you know someone who could use this help, please contact the parish office. Martha Ministry: Welcomes volunteers to provide food for funeral receptions. Prepare/serve, to help ease the burden of the grieving family-served either at church or at the home. Prayer Shawl Ministry: hand knit/crochet shawls for hospice patients, the elderly and others who need a special blessing. Perinton Lay Clergy Council: networks faith communities of Perinton. Two representatives from each congregation work on projects including: Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, local coordination of CROPwalk, Church World Services's Blanket of Hope drive, ecumenical music gatherings, support Perinton Food Shelf & ministries of non-profit corporation PEM & EMP. Perinton Ecumenical Ministries (PEM) and Ecumenical Ministeries of Perinton (EMP): Non-profit corporations that provide legal support and monitor the budgets for the following ministries: Advent House (comfort care for the terminally ill), Safe Journey (transition program and support for survivors of domestic violence), Perinton Congregations for Habitat for Humanity, Fairport Community Vacation Bible School, Fairport Good Neighbor Fund, Perinton Lay Clergy Council. Each congregation sends one representative to the quarterly meetings of PEM and EMP.
