Liturgy Committee
The Liturgy Committee meets eight times a year. Liturgy Committee members learn more about the rituals, prayers, music and gestures we perform as a Catholic community that help to bring us closer to Christ and each other. Along with learning more about our faith, the Liturgy Committee also plans for various celebrations throughout the litugical year. As Catholics, we have many reasons to celebrate and the Liturgy Committee helps us to appreciate and understand all of these reasons on a deeper level. Any parishioner is welcome to attend Liturgy Committee meetings to help plan one or more of our celebrations. Liturgical Ministries: Mass Coordinator: Oversees the smooth running of the liturgy; assures that all ministers are present and understand responsibilities; attends to problems; distributes hosts at Mass. Hospitality Ministers: Welcomses those coming into church; does the Mass greeting; takes up the collection; attends to the orderly movement of the congregation; hands out bulletins at the end of Mass; helps with the washing of the vessels after Mass. Lectors: The first lector carries in the Book of the Gospels and proclaims the first reading; the second lector proclaims the second reading and reads the General Intercessions. Communion Ministers: Assist in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ; may also take communion to the sick. Altar Servers: Assists the Presider and the community with the smooth flow of the liturgy after proper training. This ministry is open to all males and females; parents and children. Music: Instrumental/Canto & Choir: Serves the community by elevating its prayer with music and help it to sing out the praise of God at all weekend Liturgies. All ages and instruments are welcomed! Other Ministries: Altar Care: Helps with the laundering and maintenance of the altar linens, towels and other materials. Liturgical Arts: A ministry that creates a welcoming and prayerful environment in each liturgical seasons, done in collaboration with other ministries to ensure unified themes to reflect and coincide with the Word. We are dedicated to spreading God's word through visual expression. All are welcome to join in creating an appealing, prayerful worship space.
